Happy Birthday to us!

Hello everyone and thanks for dropping by. You may have notice that this is our 200th episode of Macro Talk, and our 200th Macro Talk Too. That is just about 4 years of twice-weekly Livestreams - not bad for an experiment that I expected would run for a month, if that. But let me be clear in what I am saying … The success of the livestream model has very little to do with me and almost everything to do with you. On Tuesday I will explain what I am saying, but for now you should know that each and every viewer, every attendee, and, most importantly, my past and present Patreon supporters - all of you are the reason we have 400 livestreams in the back catalog. Thank you all!

So 400 livestreams later and here we are! When I thought about celebrating this significant milestone, the first idea I came up with was that whatever I did it should not require any research. I decided it should all be fun, for all of us, while also having value for us all. As usual, Chat GPT (Cindi) had some novel ideas, and a couple that I thought would be worth acting on. There will actually be several segments in both streams, Tuesday evening and Thursday afternoon. Both will have continuously running Q&A section during which I will answer any questions you may have - not limited to macro photography! While that is going on, I will run a short poll as we explore possible future directions for the channel. There are several additional short segments that I think you may enjoy

Thursday’s Macro Talk Too will be similar in structure but with completely different content. One segment will be a short macro trivia quiz and I am hoping to do a short survey and viewer poll, similar to Tuesday’s but with different choices about the Livestream format and requests for content. The structure will be very loose and we can change direction on the fly. So please come to one or both and help us celebrate 400 Livestreams!

This month we are going to be looking at how everyone did with elemental sulfur. The homework was to make a single image, birefringent under crossed poles, and containing (surprise, surprise!) sulfur. Your hosts will be Harold Hall and your’s truly!

I am going to stop here as it is going to take considerable time to bring all these segments together. Hope to see you at one or more of these events in the coming week.
